Optometrists Are Now Able To Prescribe TPAs

Ontarians will now enjoy better access to eye health care now that optometrists can prescribe medications for sight-threatening conditions like eye infections and glaucoma.

Only those optometrists that have met the requirements established by the College to perform the controlled act of prescribing drugs are authorized to prescribe drugs. Dr. Bryant is fully qualified to prescribe medications.

Reminder of OHIP Coverage For Eye Examinations

OHIP covers patients that are 19 years of age and younger as well as 65 years of age and older. If you are between the ages of 20 and 64, you are not covered by OHIP and are therefore required to pay for your eye examination. However, there are some eye conditions that grant OHIP coverage for patients between 20 and 64.    (more...)
